Senior Vice President of Fidelity Investments and Bank of America: Lee Harbert



Not many leaders in the financial services industry can boast a résumé as impressive as that of Lee Harbert. Lee Harbert’s solid reputation with in the financial world is built on his commitment to excellence and ethics. The pinnacle of his career so far was his work as a Senior Vice President both at Fidelity Investments and Bank of America.

The Road to the Top

Lee Harbert got his start as a college graduate fresh out of the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. With a BBA in Business and Accounting, Lee Harbert accepted a post as the assistant treasurer at the Advance Mortgage Corporation of Southfield, Michigan. From that inauspicious starting point, his future positions would include:

-          Director of Operations at Midland Montague
-          Vice President of Crocker National Bank
-          Managing Director of Barclays Global Investors

With these credentials under his belt, Lee Harbert was ready to claim the title of Senior Vice President at Bank of America. Lee Harbert’s management of Bank of America’s worldwide staff was commendable. In addition Lee Harbert managed to diminish operating losses by $8 billion. Bank of America also gave Lee Harbert the opportunity to gain invaluable experience in negotiating productive mergers.

After his success at Bank of America, Lee Harbert was ready to shift into a Senior Vice President role at Fidelity Investments. Under his direction, Fidelity Investments renewed its focus on providing the Healthcare and Education sectors with reasonable retirement plan solutions. Lee Harbert also built on his successes at Bank of America by working to generate 10% annual operating savings.
